WorkCover has a responsibility to ensure stakeholders are provided with opportunities to express their views about our policies and services.

Stakeholder participation guidelines [496KB]

Our Commitment

We are committed to using the appropriate processes for informing, consulting and/or collaborating with stakeholders and ensuring that participative processes are consistently applied across the organisation.

WorkCover believes meaningful and effective stakeholder participation benefits the organisation and its stakeholders by:

  • expanding the knowledge and understanding of particular issues of WorkCover and its stakeholders
  • providing stakeholders with the opportunity to provide input early in the decision-making process, leading to better and more informed decision-making
  • informing stakeholders of other factors that influence decisions made by WorkCover.

WorkCover, in consultation with stakeholders, has developed guidelines to ensure stakeholders are appropriately involved in decisions that affect them. The guidelines:

  • provide guidance on the level of consultation required for different issues
  • set a standard for consultation for each participation level
  • define the role of each party in the consultation
  • define the method and process, including timeframes, to be used by WorkCover for each type of consultation.

Our stakeholder groups

WorkCover has various stakeholder groups that provide focused feedback on scheme and legislative issues that affect employers and injured workers. They provide advice to help WorkCover develop strategies to improve recovery and return to work and return injured workers to independence and/or the community. The current stakeholder groups are:
